I am Neuro Diverse 🧠and have spent a good portion of my adult life trying to navigate working in a Neuro Typical environment.
If you are Neuro Spicy there is a high probability that you are very skilled at pattern recognition. When you are looking for a new job and interviewing follow the pattern. What story is the website of the company telling. From the time you get an email from the company saying they are interested in you as a candidate, until your final interview.
All these types of things will tell you how organized the organization is and how committed they are to finding the right candidate. Honestly look for signals about things that you know will trigger you to be dissatisfied at work. It is probably tied to a belief you hold.
For me, I have a strong since of justice and at work as it relates to exchange.
In other words, if you hire me to do a job, and I do the job at the level or above that is required. In exchange, the company will pay me and give me the benefits they agreed to. Nothing added or taken away on either side of the deal.
So given that this is a value of mine, if I recognize patterns during the hiring process that reflect that the organization does not honor their expressed values. If they don’t respect me and my time during the hiring process. I need to understand that and not move forward with the opportunity.
Looking for a job is a vulnerable process. Most of the time you are not going to apply for a job that you are not qualified for.
Most of the time organizations hire people they are comfortable with. Trust me I have been working in HR and Ops for twenty plus years. Most of the hiring managers when faced with more than one qualified applicant will pick the one that they are most comfortable with. You should do the same.
Don’t ignore the warning signs. A good manager and solid organization are more important than a salary. Don’t get discouraged, you don’t need fifty offers. You need the right match.
